2012 Fall Movie Preview: November Belongs to Bond, Bella, Anna and Abe

NOVEMBER 9

I’m excited about November 9th. It has two extremely anticipated titles, the one I’m most excited for I’ll save for last, sandwich a small one in-between and begin with Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, a film I believe the majority of us are anticipating not because of the director, but because of the man stepping into Honest Abe’s shoes. The makeup department has done an excellent job turning Daniel Day-Lewis into the 16th President of the United States, but I think we are all waiting on just what exactly he will sound like. What will his mannerisms be and how will he carry himself?

Day-Lewis is joined by an all-star cast that includes Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones and the film will enjoy a limited release on November 9, before expanding nationwide on November 16.

Getting a limited theatrical release after it hits the Toronto Film Festival is Nikolaj Arcel‘s A Royal Affair starring Mads Mikkelsen and Alicia Vikander. Arcel penned the original Swedish adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and here he chronicles the scandalous love triangle between a queen (Vikander), her German doctor (Mikkelsen) and the mad King of Denmark (Mikkel Folsgaard).

And finally, one of my most anticipated films of the year, the return of James Bond in Skyfall with Daniel Craig returning as Bond, Javier Bardem playing the film’s villain and Sam Mendes directing. As a Bond fan there is just so much to be excited for, this being the 50th anniversary year of the first James Bond film (Dr. No) along with the upcoming Blu-ray release of the entire Bond collection just makes me, as a Bond fan, giddy.
