Morning 5: Jackman Beards Up For ‘Wolverine’, Sheen and Lohan in ‘Scary Movie 5’, a ‘Wedding Crashers’ Reunion and More

1.) Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen have joined the cast of Scary Movie 5. The movie is said to be a complete reboot of the franchise and will be the first not to feature Anna Faris. I know you’re excited, so mark your calendars for Jan. 11, 2013. [E Online]

2.) Christian Bale has entered negotiations to star in The Creed of Violence for writer-director Todd Field (Little Children). The film is based on a novel by Boston Teran, which depicts the 1910 Mexican revolution through the eyes of small-time assassin Rawbone and FBI agent John Lourdes. Bale is eyeing the Rawbone role. [Variety]

3.) Kyle Chandler, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Bob Odenkirk and Andre Royo have joined director James Ponsoldt‘s The Spectacular Now. The film follows the efforts of a high school senior (Miles Teller of Footloose and Rabbit Hole) to “save” an introverted classmate (Shailene Woodley) from being a social outcast as the (500) Days of Summer writing tandem of Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber adapts the Tim Tharp novel. [Variety]

4.) Robert Rodriguez is gearing up to shoot Sin City: A Dame to Kill For once he completes work on Machete Kills with the long-gestating sequel to the 2005 adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel set to hit theaters on October 4, 2013. So far names such as Mickey Rourke, Michael Clarke Duncan, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen and Jessica Alba have been mentioned as returning. However, while Michael Madsen‘s name has been mentioned at times he says he hasn’t heard word one.

“I was in Paris [for a film festival,] which was kind of an homage to Harvey Weinstein… and I mentioned it to [Harvey] and he said he wasn’t producing it,” Madsen told MTV. “He said he wasn’t involved in it. If the Weinstein’s aren’t doing Sin City then I don’t know who is and whoever it is they have been not very clear about it. I mean I’ve heard everybody, every name on the roster that’s supposed be in the thing, even Mickey, he’s a friend of mine… I mean I just don’t know. It’s odd that I can’t seem to get an answer out of anybody. Nobody seems to know.”

Hard to tell what to believe here since Weinstein’s genre arm, Dimension Films, is handling the sequel, but perhaps Madsen is referring to a conversation with Weinstein before the project was officially announced MTV]

5.) Will Ferrell will make a cameo in Shawn Levy‘s Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn-led comedy The Internship, making for a Wedding Crashers reunion. Ferrell will play Wilson’s brother-in-law, an electronics salesman who makes plenty of inappropriate comments about his female customers. Might we have another Ashley Schaeffer or Chazz Reinhold on our hands? [Variety]
