Rooney Mara is attached to play the lead role in Brooklyn, a feature film based on Colm Toibin’s novel about a young Irish woman who emigrates to New York in the 1950s. Nick Hornby (An Education) penned the adaptation in which Mara will play Ellis Lacey, who reluctantly leaves her rural Irish community to take up a job offer in America. She settles in Brooklyn, gradually overcomes her homesickness, and starts to enjoy the greater freedom of New York. She falls in love, but when tragic news calls her back to Ireland, she meets another man, and has to choose between her old and new lives. [source]

During CinemaCon this past week Fox Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment Tom Rothman mentioned plans to start production on a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Wolverine, Steven Spielberg‘s Robopocalypse and Shawn Levy‘s comedy The Internship starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson by the end of 2012. Speaking of The Wolverine, which will be directed by James Mangold (Knight & Day), location shooting will be done in Japan wiith studio shooting to be done in Australia. There is still no word on whether or not it will be shot in 3-D, but I think we can expect it to be released in 3-D when it hits theaters on July 26, 2013. [source]

Concerns that Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus would be edited down to a PG-13 can be dismissed as Rothman discussed the film saying, “The rating board has not opined yet and it will go in to the board soon… This I can tell you and I can tell all the fans, not one frame will be cut. The movie will be what it should be. We will not cut a frame of the film. We will stand behind it 100 percent and if that means it’s an R, then so be it, because not an ounce, not a percentage are we going to compromise the film.” [source]

Chronicle director Josh Trank is now confirmed to be developing a Fantastic Four reboot for Fox with plans to direct should the script be to the studio’s liking. Plans for a Chronicle 2 are expected to come together “sooner rather than later.” [source]

Finally, here’s an international poster for Men in Black III. [source]
