Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Final Trailer Teases Major Monkey Deaths

The final trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been released.

20th Century Studios has shared the final trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which is set approximately 300 years after the events of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. The footage teases major conflicts between two different factions of apes, with Proximus Caesar’s clan seemingly wiping out Noa’s entire family.

What is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes about?

“Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows,” the synopsis reads. “As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes stars Owen Teague as Noa, Freya Allan as Mae/Nova, Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar, Peter Macon as Raka, William H. Macy as Trevathan, Travis Jeffrey as Anaya, Lydia Peckham as Soona, and Neil Sandilands as Koro.

The movie is directed by Ball, who helmed the three previous movies in the Maze Runner franchise: 2014’s The Maze Runner, 2015’s Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and 2019’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ screenplay was written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa,  Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. Ball, Jaffa, and Silver produce the movie alongside Joe Hartwick and Jason Reed. Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serve as executive producers.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes releases in United States theaters on May 10, 2024, from 20th Century Studios.
