‘Fast and Furious 6’ Goes ‘Haywire’

There were Twitch reported talks fell through with Statham as the production continues to move along with a May 24, 2013 release date already planned.

Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are both set to return as Brian O’Connor and Dominic Toretto, Dwayne Johnson is also coming back as Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs, and Johnson recently told MTV the plan was to begin shooting in May. He added, “We’re going to be in the U.K., we’re going to be in Germany, from what I know.” Well, with production just around the corner that means some more cast members need to be announced… right?

Well, I can’t help but wonder if today’s news (via THR) may be a sign the potential role for Statham has been rewritten for a female as Haywire star Gina Carano is in talks to play a member of Johnson’s team.

There were never any specifics on Statham’s role, but the addition of Carano seems right up the franchise’s alley as they continue to work with an incredibly diverse cast from all perspectives.

Details on the plot are entirely unknown, and previous reports that they would film both Fast 6 and Fast 7 back-to-back have gone away. Of course, the big question for the next film is just how much involvement will Michelle Rodriguez have? Will Eva Mendes return?

Vin Diesel talked to Entertainment Weekly following the release of Fast Five, addressing the short sequence at the end saying, “It was very deliberate, the way the Letty character was handled in Fast 4… It was very deliberate that you never saw the body. When Dom confronts Fenix, he says, ‘I don’t remember her face because the last time I saw her she was burning’ — not, ‘I shot her in the f–ing head.’ You’re going to learn more in the next one.” Ah ha… what will we learn?
