What I Watched, What You Watched: Installment #139

I had a great week of movie watching these last six days. On top of seeing The Cabin in the Woods, Bully, Wrath of the Titans and Mirror Mirror, I was able to watch three movies at home, all three spurred on by films coming soon. First there’s Ridley Scott’s feature debut, then Anchorman and finally Total Recall as later today the first trailer for the upcoming remake will be released.
The Duellists (1977)
This one I don’t want to say much about because on Monday I will have a whole feature article for you, but to say I had a good time exploring Ridley Scott’s feature directorial debut would be an understatement. I watched the film, listened to Scott’s commentary and watched a 30 minute featurette, all of which are included on the special edition DVD, which you can buy at Amazon for $39.99 or just rent from Netflix like I did.

Anchorman (2004)
I know everyone is excited at Anchorman 2, but to be entirely honest, while I didn’t dislike this film, I don’t necessarily see why everyone loves it as much as they do. Watching it again I laughed more than I remembered laughing the first time around and I still think the scene I’ve included below, featuring Jack Black kicking Baxter off the bridge is one of the funniest scenes in the last 10 years, but other than that (and maybe the anchorman alley fight), this is just a good comedy to me, but not the great one everyone else seems to think it is. Maybe I’m just weird.
SIDE NOTE: I actually fired up my HD DVD player to watch this one as it’s the only format I own this movie in.
Total Recall (1990)
I am in the middle of doing a little DVD and Blu-ray sorting at my place and I had this playing in the background while I was doing that and I’ve been trying to think of some way to write about it ever since. I did come up with one idea, which involved making a list of what I believe are the five most memorable moments from the film.
Tell me, for those of you that have seen it, looking back, what are the five most memorable moments from this film for you? Also, are you looking forward to the remake?
