Will Ferrell made a special appearance on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in character as Ron Burgundy from Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and officially announced Anchorman 2 has finally received the green light.
The announcement is accompanied with news Ferrell will be reuniting with previous cast members Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner. There is no word on Christina Applegate, but I would assume she’ll also be back and David Krumholtz announced on Twitter that he too has a role.
During his appearance on Conan (which you can watch in its entirety below), Ferrell said, “I want to announce this to all of our friends in the Americas, Spain, Turkey and the U.K. — including England — that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount pictures and myself… have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman. There will be a sequel.”
Also announced on the official Ron Burgundy Twitter account a post read, “Hey America and Hawaii. Looks like Paramount and my lawyer Gene Tigerworthy have agreed to terms on a sequel to Anchorman. Whiskey sours on me!”
Adam McKay will again direct from a script he co-wrote with Ferrell and will be produced by Judd Apatow with Ferrell’s and MKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions.
