Five Looks at Gosling and Mulligan in Cannes Bound ‘Drive’

One of the films I’m extremely excited to see at Cannes is Drive starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, and I have to assume anyone that’s seen Refn’s Bronson or the Pusher trilogy is anxiously awaiting this film right along with me. Today I received a batch of five images from the film in advance of its Cannes debut which you can browse in full right here.

The film is based on the James Sallis novel with a screenplay by Hossein Amini (Killshot) and is described as a fast paced action thriller that focuses on a Hollywood stunt driver (Gosling), a loner by nature, who moonlights as a getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the ex-con boyfriend of his beautiful neighbor (Mulligan) in a job that goes dangerously awry. The only way he can keep her safe and stay alive is to do what he does best: Drive.

The film co-stars Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”), Albert Brooks (Taxi Driver), Oscar Isaac (Che: Part One), Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) and Ron Perlman (Cronos).

Gosling has already agreed to work with Refn again, which tells me they had a good time on this shoot, as they will team on the remake of Logan’s Run for Warner Bros. marking Refn’s first major studio feature. He was also recently attached to direct Only God Forgives, a Bangkok-set modern Western that sees a Thai police lieutenant (Luke Evans) and a gangster settling their differences in a Thai-boxing match.

I’ve included two more of the new images directly below and you can get the other two as well as the sales art right here.

FilmDistrict will release Drive later this year on September 16.
