‘Inception’ and ‘Black Swan’ Lead Sound Editors 2011 Nominations

Over the weekend I will be putting together my final batch of Oscar predictions prior to Tuesday morning’s Oscar nominations announcement and now the final clue we’re going to get as to which way the Academy may be leaning arrives as the Motion Picture Sound Editors have announced their nominees.

Based on the nominees below it would appear Inception and Black Swan are two guaranteed front-runners as each film scored three nominations each with multiple films scoring two nominations.

I’m on record saying how much I loved the sound mixing and editing in The Social Network, but I imagine the Oscar in both the Editing and Mixing categories will end up elsewhere and Inception seems like just as good a pick as any. Have a look at the nominees below and weigh in with any thoughts you may have.

I will be posting an Oscar nomination prediction list on Monday for us to discuss the potential nominees all day prior to the official announcement. As bored as I am with the awards race, I have my fingers crossed there will at least be a few surprise nominees come Tuesday morning.
