New Images, Plus Listen to Carter Burwell’s Score from the Coens’ ‘True Grit’

I’ll finally be seeing the Coen brothers’ True Grit very, very soon and I can’t wait as the December 22 release date inches closer and closer.

In advance of said release date, I have a couple of goodies for you as Paramount just sent over 33 new images from the Coens’ adaptation of Charles Portis’s novel centering on the story of 14-year-old Mattie Ross (newcomer Hailee Steinfeld) who hires trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) to hunt down her father’s killer, Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin). Also hunting Chaney is a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) who hopes to catch him and bring him back to Texas for the murder of another man.

I’ve recently heard Steinfeld steals the show from more than one source with one friend of the site recently writing in telling me “she has a tremendous shot at winning” the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, though he believes she belongs in the lead Actress category. Yet Supporting is where she’s being considered.

While all of that sorts itself out, you can browse 33 brand new images from the film, which I just added to the gallery right here and you can also head over to Paramount’s For Your Consideration site where they’ve uploaded 27 tracks from Carter Burwell’s score for the film. If that interests you, click here to give it a listen.
