Tarantino’s Longtime Editor, Sally Menke, Dies in Los Angeles Heat Wave

Sally Menke, Quentin Tarantino’s longtime editor, died yesterday while hiking with her dog in Monday’s 113-degree record-breaking Los Angeles heat. Menke, 56, was discovered dead early Tuesday morning by searchers in Beachwood Canyon, according to law-enforcement sources.

I should also make sure to state the heat has not yet been determined a factor as Menke’s body was was found at the bottom of a ravine near 5600 block of Green Oak Drive.

For anyone that owns the Inglourious Basterds DVD or Blu-ray you saw first hand how special the relationship between Tarantino and Menke was with the “Hi Sallys” feature that I’ve included directly below. Menke worked on all of Tarantino’s films including Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, Jackie Brown, Deathproof and Reservoir Dogs as well as films such as 1980’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Billy Bob Thornton’s All the Pretty Horses.

Plus, here’s the “Hello Sally” from Deathproof.
