If you you’ve seen any of 20th Century Fox’s new films this year you’ve undoubtedly seen their new 75th Anniversary logo before the film started and in conjunction with the studio’s 75th anniversary they have just announced six of the new Blu-ray titles we can expect this year as well as a poster series you may enjoy.
First off, set for quarter 3 and quarter 4 of 2010 Fox will release the Blu-ray version of the Alien Quadrilogy with all four Alien films digitally restored in a six-disc set with new extras and other Blu-ray releases include the 35th Anniversary edition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the 45th Anniversary edition of The Sound of Music, Michael Mann’s The Last of the Mohicans in an all-new Director’s Definitive Cut, plus Baz Lurhmann’s William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge!
On top of the Alien Quadrilogy, which is sure to excite many, as well as a Blu-ray edition of Moulin Rouge!, I am rather interested in this “all-new Director’s Definitive Cut” considering the theatrical version of The Last of the Mohicans is impossible to find so I’m wondering just what exactly this “new” director’s cut offers and I am sure many fans of the original film will be interested as well.
Finally, along with special releases throughout the year of classic Fox titles on DVD, the studio will release a Commemorative Box Set. Unfortunately the number of films in the set and the complete listing is not available, but apparently the titles were chosen by studio chairmen Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos and include All About Eve, Avatar, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Cleopatra, The Devil Wears Prada, Gentelmen Prefer Blondes, Ice Age, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, Minority Report, Patton, Wall Street and more.
Now, check out eight 75th Anniversary posters.
