Pattinson Circling ‘Memoirs’ As Jenny Lumet Preps Rewrite

I know Twilight and Robert Pattinson fans will respond with shouts of “Hell yes!” but I have to wonder of Pattinson can become a bankable movie star or if we are in for a short term teen crush sensation that will soon die out once Eclipse ends the theatrical run of Twilight filmed adaptations by mid-2010. Pattinson is smoldering in the teen-bop spotlight at the moment, something that used to be the home of such established stars as Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. What’s the chance Pattinson follows in their footsteps?

With two more Twilight films on order as well as the upcoming May release of the indie feature Little Ashes, Pattinson is now apparently looking to expand even further as he is in talks to star in Memoirs for Summit Entertainment, a romance-drama in which Rachel Getting Married scribe, Jenny Lumet, is aboard to rewrite and Hollywoodland helmer Allen Coulter is in talks to direct.

The original script was penned by Will Fetters and centers on a pair of star-crossed lovers who meet and fall in love while struggling to deal with family tragedies that threaten their relationship.

Following Little Ashes, Pattinson will next be seen in The Twilight Saga: New Moon on November 20.
