Spielberg and Jackson May Have Found Their ‘Tintin’

I actually watched Love Actually (I love that film even though it seems to be an unpopular opinion) only a month or so ago and began to wonder what happened to the little boy from the film. I mean, the kid from Jerry Maguire disappeared and Dakota Fanning has been abducted only to pop up in little girl gets raped movies I needed one child actor to follow. Unfortunately I am lazy and didn’t even try to find the poor chap. Turns out his name is Thomas Sangster and I have actually seen him in more than just Love Actually.

Now 17-years-old, Sangster was in Tristan and Isolde in 2006, but I am excused for not knowing he was in Nanny McPhee or The Last Legion since I never saw either of them. However, more people may become aware of the young lad as he is reportedly set to star in the Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson trilogy Tintin. Sangster will play the title character based on the hero of Georges Remi’s comic books.

The “Tintin” stories chronicle the escapades of a junior reporter who has a nose for a good story and a talent for attracting trouble, which more often than not imperils his life! Spielberg and Jackson have selected three stories from the “Tintin” book series to develop into theatrical feature films, which they intend to direct back to back, employing state of the art performance capture technology.

I have never seen a single page of “Tintin” so I have no idea what to expect, but I know the fact the Spielberg and Jackson are involved makes this a big deal and the fanboys seem to be eating it up. Therefore, it must at least be cool. Right?

Sangster will join already cast Andy Serkis who plays Tintin’s sidekick Captain Haddock. Filming on the first story involving Tintin begins in the autumn, with Spielberg directing. Peter Jackson will make the second movie.
