Jessica Biel is not a bad actress and she is also very easy on the eyes. However, I am wondering if she is going to be resigned to a life of romantic comedies or if she will ever be able to commit to the more serious fare, which she slightly dabbled in with The Illusionist. She does have the drama Powder Blue on her upcoming slate, which will surely gain more attention for the fact that she is expected to be nude in the film, rather than based on any really acting talent. Then there are crap films like Chuck and Larry and Next in her filmography and none of it makes her C.V. look any better.
With that said, her next flick doesn’t look like it will be her break out role as she is set to be the lead in Easy Virtue, and adaptation of the Noel Coward play. In the film she will play an American divorcee, Larita Huntington, who travels to the South of France and marries young wealthy Englishman John Whittaker, played by Ben Barnes, on the spur of the moment. The couple return to England to face his unapproving family, including his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Whittaker, played by Colin Firth and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Stephan Elliott, who directed the Oscar winning Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, will helm the feature from a screenplay he and Sheridan Jobbins penned.
Production begins next week in London.
