Stone Eyes Pitt for ‘Pinkville’

What is Oliver Stone and United Artists thinking with Pinkville, a film set during the Vietnam War centering on the investigation of the 1968 My Lai massacre? If people don’t want to watch Tom Cruise, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep in Lions for Lambs why would they want to watch yet another Vietnam War film from Stone surrounding the idea that 500 My Lai villagers, most of them unarmed women, children and elderly, were killed unjustly? Doesn’t make sense to me.

On top of the stellar news that broke yesterday telling us that rapper Xzibit has found himself a part in the movie that already stars Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson and Michael Peña we now learn today that Stone is eying Michael Pitt to play Lt. William Calley, the Army officer who was found guilty of ordering the Massacre. Pitt isn’t officially on board, but he is in negotiations.

One more bit of casting that was recently announced is Toby Jones whom has been set to play Lt. Andre Feher, the chief warrant officer who tries to convince Army Gen. William Peers (Bruce Willis) that U.S. soldiers were responsible for the atrocities committed at My Lai.

Production is set to begin in December, with MGM distributing.
