Zack Snyder Eyeing Another Zombie Flick

Before 300 you could have said Zack Snyder‘s name and a few ears would have maybe perked up due to Snyder’s rather impressive remake of Dawn of the Dead, but now news out of the Snyder camp ends in online headlines with exclamation points and orgasmic enthusiasm. Unfortunately for you guys I am not the fanboy some of my peers are so you get the simple headline above and the news that Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are putting together Army of the Dead.

Word is that Snyder is not guaranteed to direct the feature, but it will be produced through his newly formed production house, Cruel & Unusual Films, based at Warners. The script is being penned by Joby Harold, who wrote the upcoming film Awake for The Weinstein Co. which stars Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba.

Army of the Dead is set in a quarantined Las Vegas in the not-too-distant future, and revolves around a father who tries to save his daughter from imminent death in a zombie-infested world.

Despite Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead he told Variety, “I feel like there hasn’t been a zombie movie on the scale that we want to do it.” He also said that Army will most likely use some of the techniques used to give 300 its spectacular visuals.

First up on Snyder’s plate is the feature film adaptation of the classic graphic novel Watchmen for Warner Bros., which is expected to get underway this summer. The story is based on the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons graphic novel about a group of retired superheroes who reunite to save the world from disaster. A 2008 release is currently expected.
