Lucas Talks ‘Indy 4’ and ‘Star Wars 3-D’

I am not quite sure how we should take George Lucas‘s latest comments to MTV when he says that Indiana Jones IV will prize dialogue over decibels.

The Star Wars director is quoted saying, “I think Tom Cruise proved that people are getting bored with that kind of stuff… What they want to see is something different. And Indiana Jones, if nothing else, is always different.”

Personally I think Lucas lacks talent in the dialogue department (see the Star Wars prequels for proof), but he certainly knows how to weave a storyline so I will never abandon faith in his ability and I truly hope Indy 4 is more than just an action extravaganza.

On top of this little hint he kept tight-lipped as to the plotline of the pic, but he did say that the script is finally done and the flick will “probably” start shooting next year.

Lucas goes on to tell MTV, “We’re working on it, we’re working on it… We’ve been working on it for 10 years. I think it’ll be a great film, but it’s completely different. It’s still got a lot of action, and it’s still very funny. I think it works like crazy.”

Finally he mentioned the Star Wars 3-D project, which was first reported March 2005. While I was never positive he would find the time to do it he is still chatting it up. When asked when it would be released he said, “I don’t know! Eventually. We’re working on that technology, seeing if we can get that to work out.”

I for one am hoping that “eventually” comes sooner than later. That is something I would really love to see.
