I Guess Julia Roberts Isn’t Retired

It had been wide spread that Julia Roberts will be stepping down from acting once her turn as a Broadway actress was over, but all that seems to be codswallop as Julia has a pair of pics lined up on top of her two animated features due out this year.

First up is Daniel Isn’t Talking, a drama based on the novel by Marti Leimbach, for Fox 2000. Roberts is in negotiations to star in Leimbach’s adaptation, which will be set in London and follows a couple and their two children. When it’s revealed that the son is autistic, the family’s orderly life is shattered. This won’t be her first turn in a Leimbach adaptation as she also starred in Dying Youn in 1991.

Before she would begin that project she will first star opposite Tom Hanks in the Mike Nichols directed feature Charlie Wilson’s War.

The film centers on a rogue Texas congressman (Hanks) whose penchant for booze and women earned him the nickname Good Time Charlie. He watched his political career almost go down the drain in the early 1980s when he was caught in a hot tub tryst with two cocaine-sniffing showgirls in Las Vegas.

He survived the scandal and ended up overseeing the largest and most successful covert CIA operation in history; his efforts to fund resistance fighters in Afghanistan hastened the fall of the Iron Curtain.

You will hear Roberts’ voice in the upcoming 2006 releases Charlotte’s Web and The Ant Bully.
