Roth Prepared for More Hostel-ity

Who would have thought that the biggest films out of Lions Gate Films would be the bloodiest? Not only are they big, they are big in a big way.

In October 2004 the first Saw opened with $18 million before finishing at $55 million and a sequel was immediately greenlit. That sequel, Saw II, opened with $31 million last October, and now Eli Roth‘s Hostel fares far better than his earlier Lions Gate effort, Cabin Fever, by bringing in $19.5 million in its opening weekend. Two million shy of what Cabin Fever made total!

So, as any intelligent studio would do, Screen Gems and Lions Gate are already planning a sequel with writer/director Roth in talks to return for the second installment.

What’s the story about? Well, ComingSoon.net managed to pull a rumor out of Hostel star Jay Hernandez who told the site “Yeah, it’s a possibility and people have mentioned it… Like for me to come back in a Bourne Identity sort of thing where you’re trying to get back at the people who were involved, but who knows?”
