‘Blues Brothers’ on the Big Screen

Personally, I was not really a huge fan of The Blues Brothers, but I know that I am in the minority on that one so as Universal is prepping the release of The Blues Brothers 25th Anniversary Edition DVD for release on August 30th they have also planned an 80 theater live simulcast interview with star Dan Aykroyd, and director John Landis, which will preview prior to 25th anniversary screenings of the film all over the country.

The 25th Anniversary DVD includes two versions of the film, the original and an expanded version along with all new bonus features as comedy icons John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star in the outrageously funny musical comedy about Jake and Elwood Blues, two brothers searching for redemption with no money but a briefcase full of soul. Hit the road with musical performances by blues legends Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Cab Calloway in the action-packed spectacular from acclaimed director John Landis.

In one of the most wide-reaching DVD launches in history, the entire program will be presented live via satellite beginning at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET to 83 movie theatres from coast to coast by National CineMedia, a joint venture of AMC Entertainment Inc., Cinemark USA, Inc. and Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC). This special Anniversary event will feature an exclusive, live Q&A discussion with director/writer John Landis and the film’s star and co-writer, Dan Aykroyd (who will join via satellite from Toronto), followed by a first time screening of the film in High Definition and cinema surround sound.
