John Cena recently opened up about undergoing hair transplants. He then praised his doctor, Ken Anderson, for providing effective treatment and hair growth solutions. After revealing the reason for his shaved head, Cena discussed the time it took for his first two procedures, then expressed his full trust in his doctor.

During a conversation with PEOPLE at San Diego Comic-Con, Cena showed up with a shaved hairstyle. He shared why he opted for his look and reflected on his two hair transplant procedures. He said, “The objective is to get more hair, and this was the best way to do it, talking with Ken Anderson, my doctor over there. I love the guy. He’s totally changed my life.”
He further revealed that the results of the first procedure were extremely pleasing, so he returned to the doctor 15 months later. He said, “I went back to him like, ‘Man, you did great. I have this one small, small, small spot. Can you do it?”
John Cena stated that the doctor said he did have a solution for the small spot and that the best results would only be achieved if he was bold enough to shave his head. Then, he could perhaps consider keeping the follicles.
The actor revealed that he shaved his head so it would be easier for Anderson to plant follicles quickly. He stated that his first procedure took 13 and a half hours. Whereas the second one took just 8 hours.
“And I’m rocking this hair thing with the promise that he’s working. I have full trust and faith in him with this process,” he continued after he referred to his doctor as a “master.”
Opening up about delaying the procedure, he added, “I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness.”
This conversation took place during the press line for John Cena’s upcoming film, Matchbox: The Movie. The action-comedy centers on a group of former childhood friends whose reunion takes an unexpected turn. They become involved in an international plot that requires them to prove their innocence and safeguard the world.
