Ahead of Motor City’s US release, fans are wondering whether the movie has a post-credits scene. Fast X, another one of Alan Ritchson’s popular films, had one, and it helped set up the next entry in the Fast and Furious franchise. So, it’s understandable that fans may be hoping Motor City’s story continues beyond the movie.
Does Alan Ritchson’s Motor City have a post-credits scene?
No, Motor City doesn’t have a post-credits scene. Unlike in Fast X, in which the mid-credit scene perfectly sets up the next Fast and Furious movie with the appearance of Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, the movie doesn’t tease a potential sequel.
Typically, post and mid-credits scenes are a vehicle in franchise filmmaking to accentuate the fact that the overarching story will continue even if this particular bit has concluded. However, they do appear in projects that are self-contained and not part of a franchise.
In these movies and TV shows, they can serve a variety of purposes, as they also do in franchise projects. This includes tying up loose plot threads or providing the viewers with an easter egg. In horror and thriller genres especially, these scenes often depict that the antagonist has survived and will return in the potential next project. In contrast to all this, Motor City ends when the credits start rolling.
Notably, Potsy Ponciroli (Old Henry) directed Motor City from a script by Chad St. John. Its official log line reads, “In 1970s Detroit, John Miller (Ritchson) falls for a local gangster’s girl and lands in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. With his life ruined, Miller plots revenge against the man who took his girl away.”
Besides Ritchson, the cast also includes Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster, and Ben McKenzie. The movie currently has a 71% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It releases in US theaters this Friday.
