Avengers: Doomsday trailer convinces fans that an iconic MCU character will die before Avengers: Secret Wars. The upcoming movie features a massive cast led by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans.
Who do MCU fans think will die in Avengers: Doomsday?
After going through the newly released Avengers: Doomsday trailer several times, many ardent MCU fans have come up with a major theory regarding Thor’s fate. Played by Chris Hemsworth, they think he’ll eventually die during the events of Doomsday and won’t show up at all in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Pointing out a potential fight scene involving Thor and Doctor Doom in the trailer, one fan, named @vikku60879, noticed, “There’s a pirate ship behind him, so this Thor fight is most probably happening in the Void. That makes me think it’s from the final act of the movie, not the start of the second half like the rumors were saying.”
The same user then made a wild speculation, saying, “Would it be possible that Doom absolutely annihilates Thor here and we’re supposed to think he’s dead?”
One fan, @Maxmc552, went even further while theorizing how Doctor Doom may eventually kill the God of Thunder. They wrote, “Thor will break half his mask, he states to Doom that it’s over and is about to strike him down, Doom looks at him, Thor recognises Starks face, Thor mutters “Tony?” Then Doom kills Thor Roll credits.”
Another user, named @amirdrassil, figured out that Thor was the highlight of Doomsday trailer and it might be an indication of his character arc coming to an unfortunate, but inevitable, end. They wrote, “thor was too present in the doomsday trailer. his a** is so f*****g dead”
One user, @JoshuaYehl, came up with a theory that because Marvel wants to depict Doctor Doom as the most brutal and powerful MCU villain ever, he may end up killing Thor. He wrote, “Yep, Thor is totally gonna die, just to show how strong Doom is.”
Thor has been part of the MCU since 2011 when he first appeared in his solo origin movie. He then received three more solo installments while also having a key role in various Avengers entries.
Avengers: Doomsday’s ensemble cast will also include Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, and more.
