Tom Holland has given a verdict that leaves little room for debate in the long-running rivalry between two of the world’s most famous superheroes. During a press exchange, he made it clear about his opinion on Batman over his own wall-crawling alter ego, aka Spider-Man.
Tom Holland says Batman has ‘nothing’ over Spider-Man except one thing
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Holland was asked what edge Batman, currently played by Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ DC movies, possesses over Spider-Man. He gave his opinion without hesitation. “I’d say nothing,” he stated. The British star then added a single caveat. “He has more money than Spider-Man. That’s about it, to be honest.”
Furthermore, the comment surfaced during a conversation that also touched on more reflective territory. Holland described the sensation of feeling like an 18-year-old again while working on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project. He spoke of watching collaborators assemble, comparing the experience to seeing the Avengers unite for the first time on screen. The gratitude in his voice made the shift into playful superhero sparring.
Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson currently share the screen in Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey. Holland plays Telemachus, son of Odysseus, while Pattinson portrays Antinous, a leading suitor for Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway. The working relationship has clearly built mutual respect between the two actors.
Speaking about his co-star in a separate interview, Holland revealed the intensity Pattinson brings to the set. “He’s a good pal of mine, and he is such a treat to work with because he’s so good and he really keeps you on your toes as an actor,” the MCU actor explained. Holland recalled one particular scene where Pattinson’s performance sparked a visceral reaction. “I do remember in that scene when he’s talking to me, having this feeling inside of like, ‘I wanna hit him so f—ing bad.’ But he’s great and I love him.”
While the actors share a genuine friendship, Holland’s superhero loyalty remains firmly with his own character. Spider-Man fans will see him next in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth MCU Spider-Man film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The movie features Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jacob Batalon alongside Holland, with a scheduled release date of July 31, 2026.
