The filmmaker posted the still on Instagram last week, showing Cavill’s Superman with glowing red heat vision eyes alongside the caption, “When Steppenwolf falls, hope rises.” The post quickly attracted thousands of likes and comments, with many fans speculating about its meaning.
Snyder’s latest post also came one week before his scheduled appearance with legendary comic book creator Frank Miller in Los Angeles on July 18, 2026. Although the filmmaker did not explain the meaning behind the caption, it quickly fueled speculation among fans. Some interpreted the message as a reference to his DC characters, while others once again called for the SnyderVerse to be restored.
