George Hickenlooper (Factory Girl) is set to adapt and direct espionage thriller Morning Spy, Evening Spy for Arnold Rifkin and Christopher Eberts’ Rifkin-Eberts, reports Variety. Todd Traina is producing.
Based on Colin MacKinnon’s novel of the same name, the storyline revolves around an aging CIA officer who is assigned to the Middle East in the days preceding the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The CIA operative avoids the sorrow over the breakup of his marriage and his son’s tragic death by becoming obsessed with the capture of Osama bin Laden. His hunt brings him within meters of Al Qaeda operative and lead 9/11 terrorist Mohammad Atta just days before the attack.
