Taylor Swift’s Toy Story 5 Music Video Has Already Broken Historic Records

Taylor Swift’s new Toy Story 5 single has broken multiple streaming records within hours of release. The track, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” was released with an exclusive music video that drove millions to streaming platforms overnight.

The song, co-written with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, is Swift’s return to her country origins. It accompanies the upcoming Pixar movie and centres on Jessie, the cowgirl doll voiced by Joan Cusack since Toy Story 2. Swift penned the lyrics immediately after attending an early screening.

Taylor Swift’s Toy Story 5 music video creates history on Spotify

Taylor Swift’s music video stitches together clips from the franchise with new Toy Story 5 scenes. It begins with Jessie meeting Woody for the first time, Bullseye waiting in the background. The visuals then trace her journey into the toy group alongside Buzz Lightyear. A flashback cuts to her former owner placing her in a donation box, a red car disappearing into the distance.

The video closes with a young red-headed girl swinging with the Jessie doll and collapsing into autumn leaves. Parts of these scenes appear to have been lifted from the upcoming movie.

The streaming numbers tell a remarkable story. “I Knew It, I Knew You” became the most-streamed country song in a single day by a female artist in Spotify history. On Apple Music, the track claimed the title of biggest country single of 2026 and broke the platform’s record for a soundtrack single based on first-day plays. Amazon Music reported that Taylor Swift’s song had the biggest global first-day streaming debut of any track on its service this year.

The exclusivity of the music video to Spotify and Apple Music concentrated listener demand. Fans wanting to watch Jessie’s story had to visit those platforms, pushing the numbers past existing benchmarks across all three major services.

Now, it remains unclear whether Taylor Swift has a voice role in Toy Story 5 itself (via Deadline).
