“A small group of scientists and soldiers have taken refuge in an underground missile silo where they struggle to control the flesh-eating horror that walks the earth above,” a description of the movie reads.

Day of the Dead is the third film in the Night of the Living Dead franchise, following Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. After Day of the Dead came 2005’s Land of the Dead, 2007’s Diary of the Dead, and 2009’s Survival of the Dead, all of which were directed by Romero. While Romero passed away in 2017, there is still another movie in the works: Twilight of the Dead. Romero’s widów Suzanne Romero revived the project, as George co-wrote a film treatment with Paolo Zelati prior to his death, in 2021, and the movie will now be directed by Brad Anderson. The film was completed earlier this year, though a release date has not yet been set.
Day of the Dead has also received two remakes: a 2008 film of the same name directed by Steve Miner, and 2017’s Day of the Dead: Bloodline, which was directed by Hèctor Hernández Vicens. There was also a Day of the Dead television series that premiered on Syfy in October 2021, but only ran for one season.
