What is The Platform About?

Released in 2019, The Platform is a dystopian sci-fi movie that is an allegory about “mankind at its darkest and hungriest.” In a large tower, residents in vertically stacked cells receive food via a platform lowered from the ceiling. The platform stops on each floor briefly before descending to the next level. The platform is full of food at the top level. However, the lower-level residents only receive the leftovers from the previous floor, leading to conflict.

The Platform stars Iván Massagué, Antonia San Juan, Zorion Eguileor, Emilio Buale Coka, and Alexandra Masangkay.

Gaztelu-Urrutia directed The Platform on a screenplay by David Desola and Pedro Rivero. The Platform is one of the most popular Spanish films in Netflix history, with 129,700,000 hours viewed.
