The Book of Clarence

Exclusive The Book of Clarence Clip Praises Jay-Z’s Involvement, Usage of Music

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from 2024’s The Book of Clarence, which is now available to rent or purchase on digital streaming services.

The behind-the-scenes clip from The Book of Clarence sees Jeymes Samuel, who wrote and directed the movie, and star LaKeith Stanfield discuss the film’s use of music. “Music was always there, it’s always on set,” Stanfield said. “We had dance parties, performances, and we just had a concert not too long ago. It’s fun, it’s unique, it keeps everything lively, it keeps things interesting. I enjoy it, overall. It’s a fresh perspective. I’d rather go onto a set where there’s music, liveliness, and people enjoying themselves than a set where everyone’s taking themselves so damn seriously.”

What is The Book of Clarence about?

“The Book of Clarence is a bold new take on the timeless Hollywood era Biblical epic,” the synopsis reads. “Streetwise but struggling, Clarence is trying to find a better life for himself and his family, make himself worthy to the woman he loves, and prove that he’s not a nobody. Captivated by the power and glory of the rising Messiah and His apostles, he risks everything to carve his own path to a divine life, a journey through which he finds redemption and faith, power and knowledge.”

Samuel, who previously made 2021’s The Harder They Fall, produced The Book of Clarence with Jay-Z, James Lassiter, and Tendo Nagenda. Jay-Z is also featured on the film’s soundtrack with Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, and a number of other artists.

In addition to Stanfield, The Book of Clarence stars Omar Sy, Anna Diop, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Michael Ward, Alfre Woodard, Teyana Taylor, Caleb McLaughlin, James McAvoy, and Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie was released in United States theaters in January 2024.

The Book of Clarence is now available to rent or purchase on digital streaming services such as Apple TV, Prime Video, Vudu, and Microsoft.
