The Bride Production Start Date Set for Christian Bale Frankenstein Movie

According to Production List, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s next directorial feature The Bride has finally received a filming start date and location.

The Christian Bale-led Frankenstein movie is now scheduled to begin its production on March 4 in New York City. This comes after Netflix reportedly exited the project as its distributor. At the moment, it’s currently unclear if The Bride has already found a new studio or streamer ahead of its filming start.

What to expect in The Bride?

Described as a horror thriller, The Bride will be directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, based on Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. This marks Gyllenhaal’s second directorial project following 2021’s The Lost Daughter, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. In addition to Bale as Frankenstein, the film will also star Penelope Cruz as Myrna, Peter Sarsgaard as a detective, and Jessie Buckley in an undisclosed role.

The Bride is produced by Talia Kleinhendler and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Besides Gyllenhaal, Guillermo del Toro is also currently preparing to direct another Frankenstein-centered movie, which will feature Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Jacob Elordi.
