Zac Efron & Jeremy Allen White Want to Wrestle for WWE After The Iron Claw

Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White both want to wrestle for WWE after their work in A24’s upcoming Von Erich biopic The Iron Claw, with Efron recently telling Entertainment Weekly: ”Yeah, call WWE! Say we’re going to do it!”

What did The Iron Claw cast say about wrestling in WWE?

Efron’s comments came in the context of a cover story to promote The Iron Claw, which is written and directed by Sean Durkin and debuts in theaters on December 22. Towards the end of the story, the actors are asked if they’d be interested in wrestling further.

“Oh, I would jump in,” White, who plays Kerry Von Erich, replies.

“I would love to,” Harris Dickinson, who plays David Von Erich, agrees. “Do you remember at the end of the shoot? We were like, ‘Should we try and do this for real?’”

White, star of the hit series The Bear reveals he went to Durkin to express his interest: ”We went to Sean and were like, ‘Sean, call them! Tell them we’re ready!’”

Dickinson then asks White if he’s serious, to which The Bear star replies: “F— yeah.” But Efron, who plays Kevin Von Erich, adds a caveat: “Only if all you guys were there.”

While it may seem unlikely that we’ll get an A24 stable in professional wrestling, there have been some high-profile celebrity superstars in WWE that have given well-received performances. Those include Bad Bunny, Johnny Knoxville, and Logan Paul.

According to an official synopsis, The Iron Claw “charts the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day.”

In addition to Efron, White, and Dickinson, Holt McCallany plays Fritz Von Erich, and Maura Tierney appears as the family’s matriarch Doris. Lily James plays Kevin’s wife Pam. AEW star MJF makes his live-action film debut in The Iron Claw as Lance Von Erich.

Durkin, who previously directed Martha Marcy May Marlene and recently helmed three episodes of the Prime Video series Dead Ringers, produced The Iron Claw. It’s also produced by Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Angus Lamont from House Productions, and A24. The executive producers are Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman for House Productions, Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen from Access Entertainment, and Eva Yates from BBC Film.
