Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home Concept Art Shows Off Maguire & Garfield’s Worlds

One idea that didn’t make it into Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man and Doctor Strange going through some familiar settings.

Concept artist Phil Saunders revealed an early idea from the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. As Strange chases Peter Parker through the multiverse in the film, the two heroes would have gone through scenes from both previous Spider-Man movie series. Some of the included settings would have been the wrestling match from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and the clocktower from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. You can check out Saunders’ art of the idea on his ArtStation profile.

“One early idea for Spidey and Dr. Strange’s chase through the multiverse was to have them battle over the source of the spell (in this early version the Book of Vishanti) through scenes from the previous movies,” Saunders stated. “We were given a couple of days to play with that idea, taking screen caps from the movies and painting in Spidey and Doc. I liked the idea of taking the familiar shots and shifting the gravity and POV so that the characters would be in a completely different orientation than the action.”

Who starred in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Spider-Man: No Way Home was led by Tom Holland as the beloved titular wall-crawler, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. The film also featured the return of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe alums Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans.

It was directed by Jon Watts from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film had earned a worldwide gross of over $1.9 billion at the box office. So far, Sony Pictures hasn’t officially announced the development of its follow-up sequel, but it has been rumored that Tom Holland and Zendaya are reportedly attached to reprise their respective roles as Peter Parker and MJ.
