Netflix revealed its enigmatic poster for Leave the World Behind. The film, based on Rumaan Alam’s novel of the same name, will premiere on Netflix on December 8.
“There’s No Going Back to Normal”
Leave the World Behind follows husband and wife Amanda (Julia Roberts) and Clay (Ethan Hawke), who have rented a beautiful, luxurious home to spend the weekend with their children Rose (Farrah Mackenzie) and Archie (Charlie Evans). However, their supposedly loving vacation came to a halt when two strangers, G.H. (Mahershala Ali) and Ruth (Myha’la Herrold), arrived to bring terrible, shocking news of a disaster looming on the horizon.

The upcoming thriller is written and directed by Mr. Robot’s Sam Esmail, with Barack Obama and Michelle Obama serving as producers.
The synopsis reads: “In the film, Amanda and her husband Clay, rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their kids, Archie and Rose. Their vacation is soon upended when two strangers — G.H. and his daughter Ruth — arrive in the night, bearing news of a mysterious cyberattack and seeking refuge in the house they claim is theirs. The two families reckon with a looming disaster that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.”
Leave the World Behind will hit select theaters on November 22. The film will also serve as the opening film at the AFI Film Festival on October 25.
