Michael Bay Nearly Stopped G.I. Joe Crossover in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Michael Bay nearly stopped the G.I. Joe crossover in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

The seventh movie in the famous Transformers series ended on a crossover cliffhanger. After saving the world, Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) has a job interview with Agent Burke (Michael Kelly). Here, Burke hands Noah a business card recruiting him into the G.I. Joe, teasing a crossover event that would create a shared universe with two iconic Hasbro IPs.

Paramount CEO Brian Robbins recently shared how challenging it was to make this happen. He had to convince Hasbro and producers Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay to allow this to happen. Bay was worried that merging the two franchises together would cheapen the other Transformers movies. “I called him 50 times,” Robbins says. “I would not let him off the hook. And when he finally stopped dodging my calls, we got him to sign off.”
