Adam Driver ‘May Have Priced Himself Out’ of Fantastic Four Role

Adam Driver was reportedly offered the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. However, a new report suggests that he may no longer be in contention.

Adam Driver may be out of Reed Richards role

During the latest episode of The Hot Mic Podcast, Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider mentioned that, with a lot of these castings, it might come down money, and speculated that Driver might have “priced himself” out of the role.

“When I asked someone about Fantastic Four, they said…like I said it comes down to money, so I think Adam Driver may have priced himself out,” Sneider said. “That may have been the situation. He may have just started asking for too much money.”

Sneider and co-host John Rocha went on to speculate that the potential issue could also be a casting one, with Driver simply not wanting to be in the film if Margot Robbie — who was rumored to play Sue Storm — wouldn’t be in it.

Driver’s name has come up in regards to the role previously. Sneider recently shared information during a past episode of The Hot Mic podcast that Driver is in the lead to play the role, a report that Sneider said he couldn’t verify but made sense to him.

Elsewhere, Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Rudolph also teased that Driver could be “a front-runner for a certain stretchy role.” Alongside rumors of Driver playing the MCU Reed Richards, other reports have mentioned that Elvis star Austin Butler has been eyed to play the role of Johnny Storm, otherwise known as The Human Torch.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four comic book series, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, debuted in 1961 and was the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics.

The film is set to make its debut during Phase 6 of the MCU, on February 14, 2025.
