Indiana Jones 5 Director Debunks Rumor About Ending Reshoots

Indiana Jones 5 Director Responds to Negative Reviews: ‘It All Vaporizes Later’

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold has responded to the negative reviews the film has gotten.

The new action movie features Harrison Ford putting on the hat and grabbing the whip for one last adventure as the beloved hero. Fans have been waiting for another Indiana Jones movie for 15 years. Disney premiered the movie at the Cannes Film Festival in May, receiving a mixed critical reception. Some praised Ford’s return, while others felt it paled in comparison to Spielberg’s work in the series.

“When you’re in franchise land, it’s very hard for critical thinkers” — meaning journalists — “to overlook what I’m sure their editors want, which is this business prism of how does it rate to the other ones?” Mangold tells Variety. “I always thought if I were second or third best to one of the greatest films of all time, I’d be good. I mean, it all vaporizes later. Either the movie will live or it won’t.”

When is the Indiana Jones 5 release date?

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will release on June 30, 2023, by Lucasfilm.

The film stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.

“Daredevil archaeologist Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary dial that can change the course of history,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Accompanied by his goddaughter, he soon finds himself squaring off against Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who works for NASA.”
