Weapons Cast: Renate Reinsve Joins Pedro Pascal-Led Horror Movie

The cast of Zach Cregger’s next film, Weapons, continues to grow. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Renate Reinsve has joined the cast of the upcoming project.

Reinsve is best known for her role in Oscar-nominated The Worst Person in the World, and will join a cast that already includes Pedro Pascal. Pascal joined the cast earlier this month.

What do we know about Weapons?

Plot details, along with Renate Reinsve’s character, are being kept under wraps. However, the report describes Weapons as “an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Weapons is Cregger’s first project after the success of Barbarian, his 2022 horror breakout hit. Made for an estimated $4.5 million, Barbarian went on to gross over $45 million, and met with acclaim from critics.

Weapons will be written and directed by Cregger, who will also produce alongside Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures, and Miri Yoon of Vertigo. New Line won the project in a bidding war that reportedly surpassed eight figures. The film will also receive an exclusive theatrical release.

Pascal was recently at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Pedro Almodóvar’s short film Strange Way of Life. Pascal stars in the short alongside Ethan Hawke (The Black Phone). The Mandalorian star is also readying for production of Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated Gladiator sequel, starring Paul Mescal (Normal People).
