The Flash Budget Cost More Than Black Adam and Wonder Woman 1984

The Flash is DC Studios’ and Warner Bros. Discovery’s biggest film to date. Expectations for the superhero’s big-screen debut are at an all-time high. Luckily, a recent report suggests that Warner Bros. has faith in the project due to The Flash budget being quite high.

How much is The Flash’s budget?

The upcoming superhero movie – set to bridge the previous era of the DC Universe and what new co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have in store – has always been a big project.

According to a recent report from CBC, the film’s budget is listed at $220 million, which would put it above past DC Studios films like Wonder Woman 1984 ($200 million) and what the initial price of Black Adam‘s budget was ($190 million, before ballooning up to $260 million due to reshoots).

In an interview with Paul Austerberry, the production designer calls the film “a big deal for Warner Bros.” The report also mentions that the film was held back from releasing in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and that Warner Bros. Discovery wanted this film to be seen on the big screen.

“We’re designing these things and designing the film for the big screen; this is a big screen, movie-going experience,” Austerberry said. “I hope most people see it on the big screen … This kind of movie is made for the multiplex. It’s made for the big spectacle.”

The Flash sees the return of Ezra Miller as the DCU’s Scarlet Speedster/Barry Allen, who they first portrayed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Joining Miller are Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, along with Keaton and Ben Affleck, who are reprising their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film.

“Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to,” reads the synopsis.
