Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Miley Cyrus Replaced as Mainframe

In a press release by Disney (via Comic Book Movie), it has been confirmed that Marvel Studios has enlisted award-winning voice actor Tara Strong as the new voice of Mainframe in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This marks Strong’s second role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after first lending her voice to Miss Minutes in the Disney+ series Loki.

Strong is replacing Grammy nominee Miley Cyrus, who originally voiced Mainframe in the 2017 sequel. The said character was introduced as part of Yondu’s original Guardians of the Galaxy team, which also included Michael Rosenbaum’s Martinex and Michelle Yeoh’s Aleta Ogord.

What to Expect in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

“In the film, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days,” reads the synopsis. “Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is once again written and directed by James Gunn. MCU vets Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel return to reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket, and Groot, while Maria Bakalova joins on as Cosmo the Spacedog. The sequel also features the introduction of franchise newcomers Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji, who portray the roles of Adam Warlock and High Evolutionary.

The space-traveling team was last seen in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ special presentation Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which was filmed simultaneously with the upcoming sequel. In the holiday special, Drax and Mantis try to cheer up Peter by throwing him a Christmas party celebration with the appearance of his childhood idol Kevin Bacon.
