You can pre-order the full Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham soundtrack before its release this Friday, April 21.

My score to Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham evokes an almost carnal characteristic in its sound. Being the sonic backdrop to one of DC’s most unique Lovecraftian Batman stories, I attempted to bring the viewer into a world of extreme darkness and sonic depth,” says Smith.

“This score isn’t for the faint of heart, but the beauty in its darkness is where it really shines. From the opening sequence to the end credits suite, be prepared for an intense journey and a sonic experience that may test your limits. I hope you enjoy my score to this extremely unique animated feature film, Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham.”

Smith’s music is a perfect tonal accompaniment to the work of Sam Liu, who directed the animated film, the newest addition to the Batman Universe. When creating the score for the Batman dynasty, Smith was up to the task.

Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham is a 1920s-based tale that finds explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashing an ancient evil, expediting his return to Gotham City after a two-decade hiatus,” reads the film’s synopsis. “The logic/science-driven Batman must battle Lovecraftian supernatural forces threatening the sheer existence of Gotham, along the way being aided and confronted by reimagined versions of his well-known allies and enemies, including Green Arrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Two-Face, James Gordon, and Bruce’s beloved wards. Prepare for a mystical, often terrifying Batman adventure unlike any other.”
