James Gunn Kills DCU Rumors About Harley Quinn and Firestorm

Co-CEO of DC Studios and director James Gunn has debunked rumors about a Harley Quinn-centered prequel series and his feelings towards the superhero Firestorm.

A Twitter user tweeted Gunn a rumor that describes a Harley Quinn prequel series titled Harleen, which would have apparently featured Margot Robbie as the titular character in a different world that the previous DCU movies. When asked if there was any truth to the rumor, the Co-CEO shut it down, saying “There is not.”

Another user told the director that they had heard he hated Firestorm — the DC superhero whose most known form is that of two individuals fused together and given the ability to rearrange molecular structures. Gunn seemed confused by the claim, and when asked if it was true that he hated the character, he responded, “What, no.”

The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
