Disney+ to Add IMAX Signature Sound, Movie List Revealed

Disney, IMAX, and DTS announced on Wednesday that they would be bringing IMAX signature sound by DTS to select films on the streaming service.

According to the announcement, Disney+ subscribers that use select devices will now have access to both IMAX’s exclusive expanded aspect ratio — which launched in November 2021 — as well as IMAX signature sound by DTS, which is set to launch sometime this year.

Similar to their previous collaboration with IMAX, this new feature will work on select, IMAX Enhanced certified televisions from manufacturers like Sony and Hisense. Owners of certified AV receivers from manufacturers like Denon, Marantz, and JBL can also use the new feature at launch as well. The new function will work on all IMAX Enhanced titles currently on Disney+, with more titles to be announced in the future.

Currently, the full list of Disney+’s IMAX Enhanced titles include:

  • Thor: Love and Thunder
  • Doctor Strange
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Iron Man
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp

  • Pixar’s Lightyear

In a statement on the future of their collaborations, IMAX’s Senior Vice President and General Manager Vikram Arumilli said the company was “thrilled” to bring more of its cinematic experiences to home viewers, and teased that “more titles” would be announced soon.
