Real Genius Heads to the Small Screen

Real Genius, director Martha Coolidge’s 1985 comedy starring Val Kilmer as a teen inventor, is headed to the small screen. Deadline reports that NBC is developing the property as a single-camera comedy. Adam Sandker’s Happy Madison production is producing alongside 3 Arts Entertainment.

The series, set up as a workplace comedy, will follow a contemporary version of Kilmer’s Chris Knight with Craig DiGregorio (“Workaholics”) and David King (“Parks and Recreation”) scripting the pilot.

DiGregorio and King will executive produce alongside Doug Robinson of Happy Madison and Oly Obst of 3 Arts.
