Obi Wan Shocked Disney Plus

Obi-Wan Kenobi Heads To Theaters In Five Hour Marathon Event

Star Wars fans will have the opportunity to see one of the latest tales from a galaxy far, far away on the big screen, but only if they can stay in a theater chair for the length of over two full movies. Obi-Wan Kenobi will be screened in its entirety at select Cineplex locations on June 22. The five-and-a-half-hour presentation will show the entire first season of the Disney+ program alongside a live Q&A session.

June 22 is also the premiere date of Obi-Wan‘s last episode, so the entire show will be viewable in the comfort of one’s home as fans head to theaters for the exclusive experience. The whole show’s structure is one long storyline, so it may work well as a supersized film presentation, though it will undoubtedly take some endurance to enjoy properly.

The announcement of the marathon seems to be a bit early, as no official social media accounts have made mention of the event. It’s also unclear if fans outside of Cineplex’s home country of Canada will be able to participate. Fans in the US or other parts of the world may want to keep their eyes peeled for showtimes while checking out Star Wars‘ social media to see if their local theater chains are participating.

Disney is no stranger to theatrical marathons, especially with its franchise players. Marvel regularly has marathons collecting MCU films for fans to enjoy before premiering the latest superhero blockbuster. Disney didn’t do this when new Star Wars films were premiering a few years ago, but this could be a test of the waters to see if sci-fi fans are just as hungry to experience their favorite stories on the big screen as superhero fanatics are.
