Box Office Results: Morbius Brings in Over $80 Million Globally

After months of delays, Sony’s Morbius finally opened to the not-so-bad tune of $39.1 million, per Deadline.

To date, the Marvel vampire epic carries a meager 17% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is worse than Sony’s Venom (30%) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (58%), which could be a factor why it fell a steep 25% on Saturday. Morbius also earned $44.9 million from 62 international markets to bring its global tally to $84 million.

Meanwhile, The Lost City brought $14.8 million (-51%) domestically in its second weekend to bring its domestic total to $54.5 million.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman raked in $10.8 million (-47%) in weekend five to add to its impressive $349 million domestic total. Worldwide, the film soared past $700 million. With just a few more weeks to go before the superhero epic lands on HBO Max, it’ll be interesting to see how close to $800 million the pic can reach.

Additionally, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sped out of the gates with an impressive $25.5 million from 31 offshore markets. The family sequel opens in North America this weekend.
