Mike Colter Joins Gerard Butler in Lionsgate’s Action Pic The Plane

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Luke Cage star Mike Colter has officially been tapped to star opposite Gerard Butler in Lionsgate’s upcoming action-thriller movie The Plane. Colter is set to portray the role of a cool-headed, ex-military man named Louis Gaspare, who is being extradited to Canada on charges of homicide when the plane crash lands on a dangerous remote island. In addition to Colter, Swedish model Kelly Gale has also recently been cast for her feature acting debut. Production is scheduled to begin later this month in Puerto Rico.

“Mike is an exciting addition to the film. Anyone familiar with his work knows he is a charismatic talent and a formidable force and we’re thrilled to have him board The Plane,” director Jean-François Richet said in a statement. Colter’s notable film credits include Salt, Men in Black 3, Zero Dark Thirty, Girls Trip, Extinction, Black and Blue, and Fatale. He is currently starring in Paramount+’s hit supernatural horror series Evil.

Based on Charles Cumming’s book, the film will be directed by Jean-François Richet from a screenplay co-written by Cumming, JP Davis, and Matt Cook. It will be led by Gerard Butler, who will also serve as a producer through his G-Base banner.
