My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the indie hit of 2002, has a sequel in the works. The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that Nia Vardalos, who wrote and starred in the original, will return alongside star John Corbett for a story that catches up on Toula and Ian more than a decade into their marriage.
Currently without an official title or an attached director, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is said to revolve around a new wedding that reunites the extended family of the original.
Playtone’s Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson will again produce with Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Steven Shareshian and Norm Waitt executive producing alongside Vardalos.
