In a message sent out on social media on Thursday, Banks unveiled some of the names involved in the upcoming film, including Keri Russell, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Banks ended things by saying more announcements were to come, giving fans a little more to become excited for in the future.

The film is set to begin production on August 23 in Ireland, with the film reportedly described as a character-driven thriller inspired by true events that took place in Kentucky in 1985.

Cocaine Bear marks the second film for Banks for Universal Pictures after she previously directed Pitch Perfect 2. She was also behind the camera for 2019’s Charlie’s Angels iteration, so the seasoned actress is no stranger to life as a director.
